Friends I read somewhere that, the original meaning of hacking is the activities having a good intentions and what you all are talking about is cracking. Cracking is malicious attacks on computer network. But outside the academia, the term crack is commonly misunderstood/misused & replaces the term hack.
Hacking in computer networking is done through pre-planned scripts or other networking programming. These programs manipulate data through a connection to obtain some information and also which identifies weakness in computer system and exploiting the weaknesses to gain access.An effective hacker requires combination of technical skills like ability to work with mathematics, logical reasoning, and personality traits like patience.
